Purpose & Philosophy

The taste profile transforms discovery data into shareable identity. Unlike milestone pins (which answer “What did I achieve?”), the taste profile answers “Who am I as an anime fan?” through visual and narrative expression.

CRITICAL TERMINOLOGY:

• “Explored” = 1+ episode watched (passive threshold, used for MILESTONES)
• “Discovered” = Actively charted by user (intentional curation, used for TASTE PROFILE)

Taste Profile Data Source: Based on “Discovered” shows ONLY. This ensures the profile reflects intentional taste curation, not passive watching.

Key Distinction:

• Milestones: Quantitative achievements (Explorer, Expert, Master) based on “Explored” threshold
• Taste Profile: Qualitative identity (narrative + visual) based on “Discovered” curation

Target Metric: 60%+ of milestone achievers view their taste profile within 24 hours of unlocking a milestone. This proves users care about identity expression, not just pin collection.

Philosophy: Users share taste profiles (visual + narrative identity), not pin counts. The profile generates a story from the data milestones provide.
